Free Cancer Screening for Rural Needy - Invitation to Partner
January 12, 2024
Sri Sathya Sai Trust For Universal Welfare is taking up the task to reach and take free medical services to rural, tribal and remote areas in the form of 100 medical camps over 100 weeks. So far, starting from the month of December 2023, 5 Medical camps have been conducted spanning 14 villages serving close to 2000 needy beneficiaries. Each week we are closely impacting the lives of 400-500 needy beneficiaries. The medical camps include advanced screenings like breast cancer screening, gynaecology consultations, dental procedures, referring for cataract surgeries and providing spectacles, orthopaedic consultations apart from general consultations etc. Many of the beneficiaries, having been positively impacted by ‘Sai Aarogya’, are now turning into volunteers to help us in medical camps in neighbouring villages. We have received some very encouraging appreciation for the work so far, such as from the CEO and MD of AMTZ (Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone) etc.
*Protecting our Rural Population:* 'Sai Aarogya' has helped rural women from remote areas to check and screen themselves, especially related to advanced diseases like breast cancer. We are successfully running breast cancer screening services at zero cost to the beneficiaries. Over the last 4 medical camps, out of 129 screenings, 6 women were detected with cancer who were further sent to next level procedures such as biopsy, surgery, chemotherapy etc.
As we know, saving a woman, saves a whole family. Thus, we would now like to step up further in ensuring the welfare of thousands of needy families (both women and men) who have no access to advanced screenings anywhere near their villages. As a part of this, we propose to have a dedicated cancer-screening medical van that would run to various nooks and corners in needy, rural and tribal areas with advanced screenings devices to detect breast cancer, oral cancer and cervical cancer. The intention is run the proposed cancer screening medical van in parallel to and at a higher frequency than the weekly rural medical camps.
We seek your kind partnership in this initiative so that we can rid our society of cancer - one village at a time! Kindly contact us for more details.
